  • 29 March 2017
[2017] NZCA 94; [2017] NZAR 660; 23 PRNZ 634

This was an appeal from challenging the validity of a gagging Order: [2015] NZHC 2674. The orders were made on an ex parte basis in March 2012 and June 2012, but not subject to a full hearing until June 2015. The appeal is allowed and the orders made on 22 March 2012 are rescinded.
The Court of Appeal rejecting the proposition that Z (appellant) was a blackmailer and extortionist, the High Court Judge failed to appreciate International Human Rights law and Z (appellant) was allowed to speak to his lawyers.
